Researcher: Frustrating that the nuclear debate is so polarised
At the beginning of August the Swedish government started accepting applications for state aid to build new nuclear power in Sweden, but some critics say too much emphasis is being put on nuclear power in the future energy mix. The concern is that a one-sided focus on nuclear power will not be cost-efficient and it will be to the detriment of other
sources of energy. "It is not like it's a choice between nuclear and wind power, you may need both, but they have a different time perspective," says Filip Johnson, professor of energy systems at Chalmers University.
