Death Toll Rises to 63 After Missile Strike Hits Girls’ School in Southern Iran
The Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School was hit in the late morning during a wave of military strikes that have escalated tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel. Provincial officials said approximately 170 students were present at the time of the attack. Rescue teams worked to remove victims from the rubble and the injured were transpo
rted to nearby hospitals. Emergency services are doing everything they can to assist families and recover those still trapped , a provincial official said. Images broadcast by Iranian state television showed collapsed walls and ceilings inside classrooms and personal belongings scattered across the site. Relatives of students gathered at the scene, searching for missing children. Iranian authorities blamed the strike on Israeli forces operating alongside U.S. military assets, calling it a barbaric crime and demanding international action. There has been no independent verification of the missile’s source. U.S. and Israeli officials have not commented specifically on the school strike. The U.S. Central Command said it was reviewing civilian casualty reports from recent operations. The attack has drawn widespread outrage in Iran and raised concerns internationally over civilian safety in the conflict. Humanitarian groups urged all parties to protect non-combatants and ensure immediate medical access for the injured. Officials warned that the death toll could rise as rescue efforts continue.
