Sudan’s RSF Declares Three-Month Humanitarian Truce Amid Ongoing Civil War
Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have announced an apparently unilateral three-month humanitarian truce as the country’s brutal civil war continues. RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) made the declaration on Monday through a recorded address, stating that the pause in fighting is intended to allow humanitarian aid, medical assistan
ce, and civilian evacuation in conflict-affected regions. However, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) , led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan , have not yet confirmed whether they agree to the truce or will participate in any coordinated ceasefire efforts. The announcement comes amid growing international pressure for both sides to allow aid agencies access to millions of civilians trapped in the conflict since April 2023.
